NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- Two people died in a crash on the George Washington Bridge Thursday morning, authorities said.
The two people were in a Honda CRV driving towards New Jersey on the lower level of the George Washington Bridge around 9:40 a.m. on Thursday when they collided with a Chevrolet Corvette, a Port Authority spokesperson said.
The impact from the crash flipped the CRV, throwing the person riding in the passenger seat into the driver’s side of the vehicle, the spokesperson said.
The passenger was pronounced dead at the scene, and the driver was pronounced dead at a nearby hospital, according to the spokesperson. Their names and ages weren't immediately released.
The Corvette driver was hospitalized for evaluation, but wasn’t seriously hurt, the spokesperson said. An investigation is ongoing.
