Boy, 15, arrested in J'Ouvert shooting that injured 6-year-old, mom in Brooklyn: NYPD

NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- A 15-year-old boy has been arrested and charged with attempted murder in connection with a shooting that injured five people during an unofficial J’Ouvert celebration in Brooklyn early Monday morning, including a 6-year-old boy and his mother, the NYPD said. 

The 15-year-old was arrested around 9 a.m. on Tuesday and charged with one count of second-degree attempted murder, five counts of assault and one count of criminal possession of a weapon, police said. 

The NYPD didn’t immediately provide any additional information about the arrest. Two men were previously taken into custody in connection with the shooting, NYPD Chief of Department Terence Monahan said Monday.

The shooting happened near Nostrand Avenue and Crown Street in Crown Heights around 2:55 a.m. on Monday, police said.

A 6-year-old boy was shot in the left leg; his 47-year-old mother was shot in the left foot; a 40-year-old man was shot in the left foot; a 45-year-old man was shot in the right leg; and a 34-year-old man was shot in the right leg, the NYPD said. 

All five victims were taken to Kings County Hospital Center, where they were listed in stable condition, police said.
