
NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- Police on Wednesday announced the arrest of a suspect in connection to the shooting that left a student and former player on the SUNY Buffalo football team critically injured outside of a Queens deli on Monday afternoon.Jeffrey Thurston was arrested on Tuesday, according to Chief Rodney Harrison.
"Great investigative work done by the 105 Precinct Detective Squad, Queens South Homicide, Sergeant Castle, Detective Covatti & the rest of Team Castle from Regional Fugitive Task Force for apprehending Jeffrey Thurston in less than 48 hours," Harrison posted on Twitter.
According to police, 20-year-old Malachi Capers was shot outside the 136 Deli & Grill on Springfield Boulevard in Jamaica on Monday afternoon after he apparently bumped into the suspect, sparking the attack.
