WEST BABYLON, N.Y. (1010 WINS) — A 17-year-old was killed and a 16-year-old is in critical condition after a car crash on the Southern State Parkway in West Babylon early Saturday morning, according to state police.
The 16-year-old was driving a 2009 Nissan Altima westbound between exits 36 and 37 when the car veered off the road and slammed into trees, officials said.
Emergency responders brought both of the teenagers to a nearby hospital, where the 17-year-old passenger was pronounced dead. The driver is in critical condition.
Authorities did not identify the teenager who died, and an investigation into the cause of the crash is still ongoing.
