On Nov. 23, 2021, 43-year-old Justice Brunson was convicted of two counts of robbery in the first degree and robbery in the second degree after he and his co-defendants made out with $80,000 in jewelry during the Nov. 2017 heist.

“This defendant orchestrated a plan to rob Atelier Jewelers, pointed a gun to the heads of the terrified owner and employees, and ran off with more than $80,000 worth of jewelry,” said DA Donnelly. “A jury convicted Justice Brunson on all counts because of the overwhelming evidence in this case, as well as the hard work of our prosecutors and police partners.”

Brunson planned an elaborate scheme that involved sending a female accomplice into the jewelry store on Nov. 10, 2017 to seek a repair for a bracelet.

The following day, when the woman went to pick up the bracelet, Brunson and another co-defendant Darkel Davis, followed behind her as the store’s doors were unlocked for her and ordered employees to the floor at gunpoint and proceeded to steal the large sum of jewelry.

Nassau County Police Department’s Bureau of Special Operations arrested Brunson on Feb 7, 2018.

His co-defendant Davis had already been arrested the month before, pleading guilty and sentenced to 15 years in prison in 2019.
