BRIDGETON, N.J. (1010 WINS) — A Christmas event in honor of a New Jersey girl who has been missing for three years will take place next week.
Dulce Alvarez disappeared on Sept. 16, 2019 when she was 5-years-old from Bridgeton City Park.
Alvarez’s family and other loved ones will return to the park on Dec. 16 at 6 p.m. for a Christmas gathering dedicated to the now-8-year-old.
According to her family, Christmas was Alvarez’s favorite holiday. The event will be at Dulce’s Tree, a giant oak which was dedicated to the girl and since decorated with flowers, candles, photos and messages for her return.
The event will be open to the public and all are invited to attend and offer support for the child’s safe return.

Police believe Alvarez was taken from an area of the park near a playground as her mother sat nearby in a car. As part of the investigation, hundreds of interviews and communications spanning 11 states and Mexico have been conducted.
As both detectives and Alvarez’s family hold out hope that she is still alive, her loved ones believe events like this holiday celebration keep the girl’s name and story in the public eye.
