“I wanted you to hear straight from me that I tested positive for COVID-19 today,” the governor, 68, wrote.

“I feel good and I’m not experiencing any symptoms,” he said. “We’ve done contact tracing to let people know. Thankfully I’m double boosted and I encourage everyone to get your vaccine and boosters if eligible.”

The governor said he’d isolate “for the next few days.”

He said, “this may mean fewer in-person events but I’m continuing to work from home, and I look forward to getting back into the office as soon as I can.”

Lamont received his second COVID-19 booster shot on March 31. A spokesperson, Max Reiss, said the governor tested positive after taking a regularly-scheduled rapid self-test.

Just last week, New Jersey Gov. Phil Murphy tested positive for COVID-19. And earlier in the day Thursday, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi tested positive.

The Associated Press contributed to this report.
