OLD BRIDGE, N.J. (1010 WINS) — A 22-year-old man and 20-year-old woman were arrested for animal abuse after a feces-covered puppy was found abandoned at a Home Depot, the Old Bridge Police Department announced Wednesday.

The young Labrador retriever was found at the Home Depot on Route 9 in Old Bridge around 6:30 p.m. on May 26, officials said.

The couple allegedly brought the puppy to the home improvement store in a filthy cage that police later recovered. When the dog followed them inside the store, the duo ran away until she lost track of them.
