STAMFORD, CT (1010 WINS) — A 26-year-old Connecticut man has been arrested for allegedly killing his 2-year-old son and burying him at a park, authorities said Tuesday.
The Stamford man, Edgar Ismalej-Gomez, has a history of child abuse and is a convicted felon, officials said.
Family members reported a possible kidnapping and harm to a child which prompted police to search Cummings Park in Stamford Monday night.
At the park, cops found a pile of fresh dirt under which was the body of 2-year-old Liam Rivera, authorities said at a press conference.
Ismalej-Gomez was pulled over in a taxi headed to Port Chester around 1:30 a.m. Tuesday after a relentless search by police.
According to prosecutors, Ismalej-Gomez held the boy’s mother captive for four days at gunpoint.
Cops charged him with violating parole with murder charges pending. He is being held on $3 million bail.
In August 2021, when Liam was eight months old, Ismalej-Gomez was arrested for breaking his arm. He served 60 days in prison as part of a plea deal and was given three years probation.
