ELMONT, N.Y. (WCBS 880) — The FBI in New York is offering $20,000 for help in finding a suspect wanted in connection with an acid attack on a Hofstra University student.

Nafiah Ikram was attacked outside her parent’s Elmont home on March 17, leaving her blind in one eye and with severe burns on her face, arms and throat.
The 22-year-old was walking in the driveway of her home when an unknown attacker ran up to her and threw a dark-colored substance on her.
The attack was seemingly random, with Ikram telling WCBS 880 that she had no idea why she was targeted that night.
“At first, I thought it was like just a prank. It felt like warm juice and then I just kind of screamed, gasped and that's I guess when the acid got into my throat. A few seconds later my face started burning,” she told WCBS 880 after the attack.
Seven months after the attack, no arrests have been made and the FBI has stepped in to assist in the investigation, offering $20,000 to anyone who can provide information that leads to an arrest.
Nassau County Police Department’s CrimeStoppers is matching the FBI’s reward, bringing the total to $40,000.
Authorities said the suspect drove off in a red Nissan Altima after the attack.
There has been no word on a possible motive.
While images and surveillance footage from the incident are grainy, officials are hopeful that someone will recognize the vehicle, or the person involved.
