Former employee convicted of LI Stop & Shop shooting that left 1 dead, 2 injured

WEST HEMPSTEAD, N.Y. (1010 WINS) — A jury on Wednesday convicted a former employee at a Long Island grocery store who shot three co-workers, killing one, in 2021.

Gabriel DeWitt Wilson was convicted of seven of nine counts for the shooting at the West Hempstead Stop & Shop, including murder.

On April 20, 2021, Wilson, then 31, shot two men and a woman at an upstairs office in the grocery store. A 49-year-old man was killed in the shooting.

Wilson fled on foot but was arrested about four hours after the shooting.

Police said the shooter was employed at Stop & Shop, but did not specify whether he worked at that specific location.
