NEW YORK (WCBS 880) – As Gabby Petito’s family remains in Wyoming to claim her remains this week, the Laundrie family attorney is slamming some of the big names involved in the search for Brian.

Here’s the latest:

5:30 p.m., Oct. 14: LAUNDRIE ATTORNEY FIRES BACK AT DOG THE BOUNTY HUNTER, JOHN WALSH

The Laundrie family lawyer isn’t too fond of some of the celebrity names involved in the search for Brian Laundrie.

Attorney Steven Bertolino called Dog the Bounty Hunter and John Walsh “dusty relics” who got involved in the search for Laundrie “so they can clear the cobwebs off their names and give their publicity hungry egos some food" in a text to TMZ.

Walsh hosted a special on the Gabby Petito case that aired on Investigation Discovery Wednesday, while Dog has made plenty of headlines as he has sought after Laundrie.

The former “America’s Most Wanted” host has suggested Laundrie could be in Mexico, the Bahamas or along the Appalachian Trial.

On Thursday Dog, whose real name is Duane Chapman, told TMZ that Brian’s sister “absolutely” knows more about the case than she has said.

Dog responded to Bertolino in a statement to the Post, saying, “It’s ironic that Mr. Bertolino would criticize the people trying to find Brian Laundrie unless perhaps he doesn’t want him found.”

12:15 p.m., Oct. 14: HUMAN REMAINS CANINE PART OF BRIAN LAUNDRIE SEARCH AT FLORIDA RESERVE

A K-9 forensics unit specializing in human remains was searching the Carlton Reserve in Sarasota County, Florida, on Thursday.

NewsNation reporter Brian Entin tweeted a photo of the unit on the Venice side of the 25,000-acre reserve, which law enforcement has been searching since Brian Laundrie went missing about a month ago.

The K-9 unit is part of the Pasco County Sheriff's Office, which was previously called to the reserve for the Laundrie search.

The sheriff’s office told Entin that they were brought in because they have a human remains detection canine.

12 p.m., Oct. 14: MEMORIAL BENCH TO GABBY PETITO UNVEILED IN FLORIDA

A memorial bench that pays tribute to the life of Gabby Petito was unveiled in North Port, Florida, where she lived before she set out on a cross-country road trip this summer.

Earlier this week, officials removed a makeshift memorial full of candles, posters and stuffed animals to make way for a permanent one. Items from the makeshift memorial will be looked over by Petito’s family, who will decide what they want to keep.

The new memorial will include a steel bench made by Aaron Betzner from Indiana.

North Port officials told Fox News that when the bench is finished, it will be set between trees near where the makeshift memorial was.

New photos show the mock design of the bench, which will eventually feature colorful butterflies.

11:30 a.m., Oct. 14: GABBY PETITO’S DAD PRAISES TRIBUTE MURAL IN NY

Gabby Petito’s father, Joseph Petito, praised a tribute mural to his daughter that’s being created in her hometown of North Port in Suffolk County.

“A huge thank you to Tess Parker for what she has done so far with the mural in Blue Point,” Petito wrote in an Instagram post Thursday that includes a photo of the unfinished mural.

“It looks amazing, and I’m sure when it’s complete, it will look beautiful,” Petito wrote.

11 a.m., Oct. 14: JOHN WALSH BELIEVES BRIAN LAUNDRIE IS IN MEXICO

Former “America’s Most Wanted” host John Walsh believes Brian Laundrie is hiding in Mexico.

In a special about the case that aired Wednesday night, “Gabby Petito: ID Special Report,” Walsh speculated that Laundrie is being helped by his parents, who have not been accused of a crime.

“I absolutely believe that his family is helping him stay on the run,” Walsh said.

Walsh said that the hotline for his show “In Pursuit With John Walsh” has received over 1,000 tips about Laundrie.

“Most of them are about my theory of his father driving him to the Mexican border and letting him go through Mexico,” Walsh said. “I think that’s maybe where he’s hiding — and somebody might be helping him.”
