Husband and wife, 87 and 85, presumed dead after fire destroyed NJ home

MORRIS TOWNSHIP, N.J. (1010 WINS) — A husband and wife are presumed dead after a fire destroyed their home in Morris Township early Friday morning, according to police.

Emergency crews were still working to recover Robert Ricciardi, 87, and Gemma Ricciardi, 85, over 12 hours after the fire started.

Firefighters rushed to the blaze around 2:52 a.m., according to officials.

When they arrived, the fire had already engulfed the Normandy Heights Road home, and firefighters were unable to enter the building due to the intensity and scope of the fire.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
