“There was just a loud bang. Almost like an M-80 blockbuster,” Great Neck Parks worker Anthony De Dominico, who was on shore duty when the explosion happened, told 1010 WINS.

The 22-foot-long power boat had just taken off when it exploded with a family aboard at Steppingstone Marina in Kings Point around 4:15 p.m., authorities said.

A five-year-old boy, who was wearing a life jacket, was thrown into the water from the explosion as well as his mom and dad, police said.

The couple’s two 11-year-old kids were still on the boat after the explosion and were rescued by parks employees.

Nearby, the parents’ 13-year-old son was on a jet ski and rode to their aid.
The five-year-old boy sustained several broken bones while everyone else walked away with cuts and bruises, officials said.

An FDNY fire boat put out the blaze which is still under investigation.
“It was a scary scene for everybody,” De Dominico said. “But the staff did a great job, the park district did a great job to save the family.”
