ORIENT, N.Y. (1010 WINS) — A 39-year-old construction worker died Wednesday after he fell nearly 13 feet off the roof of a Suffolk County home, Southold Town Police said.
When first responders arrived just before 9 a.m., Salomon Cruz-Jimenez, of Shirley, was found unresponsive, not breathing and without a pulse after falling off the roof of an Orient home, police told Newsday.
CPR was initiated, and Cruz-Jimenez was rushed to Stony Brook Eastern Long Island Hospital in Greenport, where he was pronounced dead.
Police said Friday that the fall has been deemed an accident and that the case has been turned over to the Occupational Safety and Health Administration for any further investigation.
