NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — A 33-year-old Long Island man was arrested early Sunday after driving drunk and hitting a police vehicle, injuring the officer, officials said.

Kushal Dilawri was driving on the Long Island Expressway when he crashed in a Suffolk County police patrol car near exit 49 in Melville around 4:38 a.m., authorities said.
The officer was parked on the side of the highway while processing an earlier car crash at the location when his patrol car was hit, according to police.
Emergency responders transported the officer to Stony Brook University Hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries. Dilawri was not injured during the crash.
Cops arrested Dilawri at the scene. He was awaiting arraignment as of Sunday afternoon.
