LINDENHURST, N.Y. (1010 WINS) — A 21-year-old Amityville woman was killed on Monday night after the sedan she was riding in was struck by an SUV off Sunrise Highway in Lindenhurst, Suffolk County Police said.

Emely Tejada, who was seated in the front passenger seat of the 2009 Toyota car, was transported to Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center in West Islip, where she was pronounced dead.

Tejada had been in the vehicle as it headed west on Sunrise Highway and turned left onto southbound Straight Path when it was hit by a 2020 Honda SUV at about 11 p.m., according to police.

The 23-year-old driver and a 17-year-old backseat passenger were transported to area hospitals with non-life-threatening injuries.

The Honda driver and his front seat passenger were not injured, police said.

Both vehicles were impounded for safety checks. Anyone with information about the crash is asked to contact the First Squad at 631-854-8152.
