Iris Gomez, 39, an employee for St. William the Abbot Roman Catholic Church in Seaford and the Diocese of Rockville Center, allegedly used a consulting company she established to fraudulently bill the church and the diocese, according to Nassau County police.

From August 2019 through January 2022, Gomez was submitting fake invoices payable to her consulting company for work that was never performed, police said.

Gomez, of East Islip, was arrested after an investigation and the total loss was determined to be more than $400,000, according to police.

Gomez was charged with grand larceny in the second and third degrees. She was scheduled to be arraigned Thursday in Hempstead.
