1 dead, 10 injured in Queens house fire near LaGuardia Airport

NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — A man was killed, six other civilians were injured and four firefighters were hurt during a two-alarm fire at a home near LaGuardia Airport late Friday night, according to the FDNY.

The fire broke out on the second floor of a three-story home on 89th Street near Astoria Boulevard around 11 p.m., officials said.

The unidentified man who was killed was found on the second floor suffering from smoke inhalation.

Emergency responders rushed him to Elmhurst Hospital Center, where he was pronounced dead.

The other civilian injuries were also caused by smoke inhalation, according to authorities.

Four firefighters suffered minor injuries while extinguishing the blaze, which took about an hour.

About 100 FDNY personnel responded to the scene. Fire Marshals are investigating the cause of the fire.
