
NEW YORK (1010 WINS) – A man was killed and two other men injured in a pair of shootings in the East Village and Lower East Side overnight Sunday, police said.

The first shooting broke out around 11:15 p.m. at E. 3rd Street and Avenue D in the East Village.
Police said a 39-year-old man was shot in the head. He was rushed by EMS to Bellevue Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. He was later identified as Brandon Atkinson, of the Bronx.
About an hour later, around 12:30 a.m. Tuesday, two men were shot at the corner of Rutgers and Madison streets near the LaGuardia Houses.

Police said three males pulled up in a silver sedan, jumped out of the car and shot a 22-year-old man in his right arm and a 19-year-old man in his right leg.
The three suspects then jumped back in the car and took off.
Both victims were hospitalized in stable condition.
Police said a motive in that shooting is unclear, and it’s not yet known if the victims were the intended targets.

No arrests have been reported in either shooting.
A 24-year-old man was also shot at W. 47th Street and 10th Avenue in Hell's Kitchen around 5 a.m. Monday. Police told WNBC that he has life-threatening injuries.
Shootings in Patrol Borough Manhattan South are now at their highest level since 1997, according to NYPD CompStat data from Jan. 1 to May 8, 2022, WNBC reported.
