The men, who ranged in age from 21-25, are all accused of being part of a gang known as “ABG” which operated out of the Mitchel Houses in the area of 135th and 138th Streets and Lincoln and Willis avenues in the South Bronx, authorities said.

“As alleged in the Superseding Indictment, ABG was an extremely violent street gang that brutalized the Bronx by shooting and slashing their victims,” U.S. Attorney Damian Williams said. “Among ABG’s many victims was Darren Scruggs, who we allege was gunned down at the age of 19 by Roberto Espinosa with the assistance of Daivon Morgan and Henry Jones. With this Superseding Indictment, ABG’s members will face justice for these serious alleged acts of violence.”

Operating since at least 2017, the crew is affiliated with the national Crips gang and engaged in a slew of illegal activities including trafficking and distributing drugs, slashings and murder. The gang members also frequently promoted their activities on social media, according to officials.

For years, ABG also engaged in disputes with rival crews in the Bronx which led to several acts of violence, including the 2019 fatal shooting of Darren Scruggs allegedly carried out by Roberto Espinosa with the help of Henry Jones and Davion Morgan. Another member of the gang, Elijah Perkins, also allegedly shot and killed a person in 2019 with help from fellow crew member Amier Wilson. Earlier this year, Wilson was also accused of shooting a victim. Several other members of the gang are charged with various murders, authorities said.

Members of the gang also carried out various slashings as part of the rivalries, including one incident in May 2020 and another in February 2021, court documents show.

All ten of the men charged also participated in distributing more than 280 grams of crack cocaine throughout the last five years, officials said.

“Targeting and dismantling gangs and crews, and preventing the violence so often associated with their illegal activities, continues to be among the highest priorities for the NYPD and our law enforcement colleagues,” said NYPD Commissioner Keechant Sewell. “I thank and commend the NYPD and HSI investigators, along with the prosecutors from the Office of the U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of New York, for their hard work on this important case. We vow to remain relentless in our efforts to identify and arrest anyone who involves themselves in such behavior.”

The ten men charged are: Henry Jones, Davion Morgan, Roberto Espinosa, Amier Wilson, Davion Trusty, Elijah Perkins, Jamie Wilkons, Xavier Arau, Juan Reyes and Cassius Miller. They all face life in prison on multiple charges.
