NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- Cunard Line’s Queen Mary 2 pulled into New York City Monday with 10 passengers onboard who tested positive for COVID-19, the cruise line said, who are now isolating in the city.

The ship carried nearly 1,500 passengers, with the positives coming back from routine testing, the subsidiary of Carnival said.
The ship sailed across the Atlantic Ocean and is on course for the Caribbean, but the group of 10 will now have to isolate in New York City after the ship pulled into Red Hook in Brooklyn.
Those who came aboard the cruise ship were required to be fully vaccinated and have a COVID-19 test.
"During routine testing, 10 guests tested positive for COVID-19 and are being disembarked in New York City in line with our framework of protocols and due to the length and complexity of the onward itinerary, which includes a number of Caribbean ports of call and countries," Cunard said.
Officials said those isolating will be able to rejoin the ship on its way back the the U.K. on Jan. 3 if they test negative.
Those remaining on the ship will be tested in the coming days, officials said.
The cruise passengers will be in New York City while it is hit hard with omicron COVID-19 cases. The state reported over 22,000 new virus cases Tuesday, the third-most over the course of the pandemic for the state.
According to Cruise Critic, Queen Mary 2 made its first Brooklyn arrival in almost two years this week.
