16-year-old pickup truck driver fatally strikes woman, 19, outside Queens auto shop: NYPD

NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- The NYPD Highway District's Collision Investigation Squad is investigating after a teen boy fatally struck another teen walking on a Queens street Thursday evening.

Police responded to a 911 call of a motor vehicle collision involving a pedestrian struck just before 5 p.m. in front of 106-15 Northern Boulevard, in Corona.

Upon arrival, officers observed 19-year-old Sara Perez, unconscious and unresponsive, with trauma to the head.

EMS transported the victim to NYC Health & Hospitals/Elmhurst, where she was pronounced dead.

The preliminary investigation revealed that the victim was walking on the sidewalk in front of 106-15 Northern Boulevard when she was struck by a 2006 Ford F-150 pickup truck that was entering an auto shop located at that location, police said.

The 16-year-old boy driving the truck remained at the scene.

There are no arrests at this time and the investigation remains ongoing.
