The officers, identified as Waqar Zafar and Sergio Garcia-Castillo, were placed on modified duty for the alleged actions, according to the New York Post.

Sources told the paper that the officers were called to NYCHA’s Bushwick Houses around 9 p.m. on Sunday. When they arrived on the scene, they encountered a man who told them no one had called the police and his friend was just “bugging out.”

The interaction lasted four minutes and was captured on their body cameras, according to the Post. They were denied entry and ended up leaving – despite hearing screams and gunshots.

The Post reported the officers then turned off their cameras as they walked away and did not call for backup.

Cops from the 90th Precinct responded to reports of shots fired inside the NYCHA complex just moments later, sources told the paper. Investigators determined a gun was fired four times inside the apartment, but no one was injured.

Marlon Daley, 22, was reportedly arrested at the apartment and charged with criminal possession of a weapon and drug possession.

1010 WINS has reached out to the NYPD for additional comment.
