2 dead, 1 wounded after Brooklyn stabbing, Harlem shooting

NEW YORK (1010 WINS) – Two men were killed and another man was wounded in a stabbing in Brooklyn and shooting in the Bronx on Thursday night, police said.

The violence started in Brooklyn, where a man was stabbed on Vernon Avenue, near Lewis Avenue, in Bedford-Stuyvesant around 7:10 p.m.

Police said the 44-year-old man, later identified as Shameek Harrison of Brooklyn, was stabbed in the chest in front of a residential building.

Harrison was rushed to Woodhull Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

A couple of hours later in Harlem, two men were shot near W. 138 Street and Lenox Avenue, police said.

The two men were taken to an area hospital by private means.

One of the victims, 25, was shot in the leg and is expected to survive. The second man, who has not been identified, was shot in the chest and pronounced dead at the hospital, police said.

Police said no arrests have been made in either of the killings. Investigations are ongoing.

Sources told the New York Post that a 22-year-old man was also critically injured in a stabbing at an apartment building near Metropolitan Avenue and Purdy Street in the Parkchester section of the Bronx around 8 p.m. No arrests have been reported in that assault either.
