2 men killed in simultaneous but separate Bronx shootings

NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — Two 29-year-old men were killed in separate shootings that took place around the same same time early Saturday morning in the Bronx, according to police.

Both men were shot around 4:30 a.m. in different sections of the Bronx.

One victim was shot in the head near the intersection of East 139 Street and Morris Avenue in Mott Haven, officials said.

EMS pronounced him dead on the scene.

Police have not yet made any arrests, and an investigation into the shooting is ongoing.

At the same time, officers responded to reports of a man shot at the corner of Third Avenue and East 180th Street in Cortona.

The man was brought by private means to Saint Barnabas Hospital, about a block away, with a gunshot wound to his chest. He was pronounced dead at the hospital.

Police recovered a gun, but have not yet made any arrests.

The identities of both men are being withheld pending notification of their families.
