NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- Two NYPD officers were injured in Queens on Tuesday night after their police cruiser overturned in a collision with a driver fleeing a traffic stop.
A Ford Fusion smashed into the cruiser at 111th Street and Liberty Avenue in South Ozone Park around 9:45 p.m., causing the cop's vehicle to flip over on its side.
Two officers suffered minor injuries and were transported to Jamaica Hospital Medical Center.
The Ford’s driver also suffered minor injuries and was taken to New York-Presbyterian Queens Hospital.
Charges are pending against the driver, who was fleeing a traffic stop before the crash, WABC reported.
Police reportedly attempted to pull over the Ford because its license plates didn’t match its registration.
