NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — Two more women sued a Manhattan gynecologist convicted of sexually assaulting hundreds of patients.
The lawsuit against Dr. Robert Hadden was made possible by the Adult Survivors Act, a law that went into effect on Thanksgiving that created a one-year window for survivors of sexual abuse to sue attackers regardless of the statute of limitations.
The two anonymous plaintiffs, one from New Jersey, the other an American citizen who now lives in Sweden, named York-Presbyterian Hospital as a defendant.
“Defendants failed to take any corrective measures and allowed Hadden to continue to sexually abuse female patients for decades,” wrote the plaintiffs in the lawsuit.
Between 1992 and 2012, Hadden fondled, performed oral sex on and penetrated patients no medical justification.
He was first accused in 2014, and he took a plea deal with a Manhattan criminal court on criminal sex act and forcible touching charges. He received no jail time for his crimes.
A new federal trial is scheduled for next year on sexual abuse charges, including an allegation of assaulting an underage girl.
Two other lawsuits against Hadden have already been settled for $236 million in total.
