5-alarm fire tears through row of Harlem stores: FDNY

NEW YORK (1010 WINS)— A five-alarm blaze ripped through a row of shops overnight in Harlem, according to fire officials.

Just after 3 a.m. officials were called for a fire at a one-story commercial building located at 490 Lenox Avenue, between West 135th and West 135th streets, authorities said.

In a video posted to Citizen App, billowing smoke and massive flames were seen shooting out of the roof of the building.

The fire grew to a fourth alarm just before 4 a.m., the FDNY tweeted.

The flames were placed under control after 7 a.m., according to officials.

No injuries were reported, as of Wednesday morning.

Officials are working to determine the cause of the fire.
