8-year-old girl killed, 2 adults hospitalized in Queens apartment fire

NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — An eight-year-old girl was killed and two adults were hospitalized in a fire in a Queens apartment Saturday morning, according to the FDNY.

The fire ripped through a third-floor apartment on 130th Street near 23rd Avenue in College Point around 7:30 a.m.

More than 60 firefighters responded to the blaze, which they had under control within about 45 minutes, according to officials.

EMS rushed the girl, an 18-year-old man and a 35-year-old man to NewYork-Presbyterian Queens, where the child was pronounced dead due to smoke inhalation, police said.

The two adults are expected to survive, according to authorities.

Fire marshals are investigating the cause of the fire.
