NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- The NYPD is searching for an armed man wanted in connection to a carjacking and robbery that occurred late last month in the Bronx.

It was reported to police that at approximately 4:50 a.m. on Saturday, July 31, a 22-year-old man exited a restaurant located at 686 Nereid Avenue and entered his 2008 Honda Fit, along with four other people when the suspect followed the group out of the restaurant and approached the vehicle.

The suspect displayed a firearm and demanded property, authorites said.

The victim and the four other passengers exited the vehicle and the armed suspect entered the vehicle and drove away, the NYPD said.

No injuries were reported but an iPhone 12 Pro Max, a book bag, and $100 cash were reported stolen, according to officials.

The stolen vehicle was later recovered at the corner of 219 Street and Barnes Avenue. The iPhone, the book bag, and the cash were not recovered.

The suspect is described as a man with a dark complexion, approximately 5'6" tall, 125 pounds, with a slim build.

He was last seen wearing a gray sweatshirt, gray sweat pants, an orange du-rag, and carrying a crossbody bag. He was in possession of a black firearm.

Police on Monday released surveillance video of the wanted man, taken from the incident location.

Anyone with information in regard to this incident is asked to call the NYPD's Crime Stoppers Hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477).
