NEW YORK (1010 WINS) – The NYPD’s Hate Crime Task Force is investigating a horrific, unprovoked attack in East Harlem on Friday night that left a 61-year-old Asian man in critical condition.

The attacker struck the victim in the back, causing him to fall to the ground, according to police.

Once the victim was on the ground, the assailant repeatedly kicked him in the head, police said.

Surveillance video released by police Saturday shows the man kicking the victim’s head multiple times as he lies on the ground.

Police said the victim sustained “significant injury” and was rushed to Harlem Hospital, where he was listed in critical but stable condition.
