NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- A yeshiva student walking in Brooklyn was punched in the nose in a suspected anti-Jewish hate crime, police and officials said Monday as they offered a $5,000 reward for info.

The NYPD’s Hate Crime Task Force released surveillance footage of a suspect as it investigates the assault early Saturday morning near Troy Avenue and Carroll Street in Crown Heights.
The 21-year-old victim was walking in traditional Hasidic garb with another yeshiva student at 1:20 a.m. when a man crossed the street and punched him in the nose, according to police and officials.
The victim was treated at the scene and is expected to recover, police said.
The Anti-Defamation League announced Sunday evening that it was offering a $5,000 reward for information leading to an arrest and conviction in the case.
Scott Richman, the regional director of ADL New York/New Jersey, urged anyone with info to call the NYPD’s Crime Stoppers hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS.
“These attacks on Jewish individuals appear to have become normalized, but we must not let this be the case – an attack on anyone based on their Jewish identity or any identity is abhorrent and should not be tolerated,” Richman said. “We hope that this reward offering will help us send that message to the community.”
