Bloomberg, who is the chairman of the 9/11 Memorial & Museum in Manhattan, announced Thursday he will be tripling donations to the Never Forget Fund ahead of the 20th anniversary of the attacks on the U.S.

“Starting today, we're announcing a special way you can help honor and remember the lives we lost and the heroism we witnessed. If you make a contribution to The Never Forget Fund before the 20th anniversary, I will match it -- and triple it,” Bloomberg wrote in an email to supporters.

The 2020 presidential candidate says donations will mean the museum can continue to “serve as a symbol of healing and renewal for our visitors from around the world, for many years to come.”

“It is hard to believe that 20 years have passed since the 9/11 attacks. Back then, we vowed we would never forget -- and now, honoring that solemn promise has never been more important,” said Bloomberg.

Bloomberg and Gov. Kathy Hochul visited the 9/11 Memorial Wednesday, laying flowers and paying respects to the lives lost 20 years ago this coming Saturday.

Bloomberg also said New York is due to bounce back from the pandemic, just as it did from 9/11.

“New York is still the greatest city in the world,” Bloomberg said. “This is the future of America, and to a great extent, it’s the future of the world.”

The museum, located on Greenwich Street, closed for nearly four months at the height of the pandemic last year.
