NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- Police are looking to identify a man in connection to an attempted gunpoint robbery that occurred earlier this month in the Bronx where a cab driver was pistol whipped and choked.
Shortly after midnight on January 12, a 42-year-old livery cab driver picked up two men in front of 595 Calhoun Avenue and drove the fare to 1480 Rosedale Avenue, officials said.
Upon arrival, one of the individuals displayed a firearm, pointed it at the driver, then struck him in the head with it, and demanded money and property.
According to. police, the second man then placed his hands around the victim's neck.
The driver was able to fight off the suspects and grabbed the firearm, rendering it inoperable and they were unable to remove any property.
The men fled westbound on Tremont Avenue officials said.
The victim refused medical attention at the scene.
Police obtained surveillance video of one of the individuals from the vicinity of the incident location, immediately after the incident.
