NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- A Bronx carjacker struck and critically injured a bicyclist with a stolen Honda before crashing into a tree, police said Friday.

The chaos unfolded Thursday afternoon in the Kingsbridge Heights section after a 29-year-old man carjacked a 2019 Honda Accord.

The NYPD couldn’t confirm reports that shots were fired during the carjacking.

As the thief was fleeing the scene in the Honda just before 3 p.m. on Bailey Avenue, he ran over a 47-year-old man riding an Arrow 10 e-bike.

After striking the cyclist, the carjacker sped off again before driving into a tree at Sedgwick Avenue and West Fordham Road.

The suspect remained at the scene after crashing the stolen Honda and was taken into custody, police said

Video shows the Honda smashed up against the tree. Other video shows a damaged white SUV in the middle of an intersection; it wasn’t immediately clear how that vehicle was involved.

The cyclist was transported in critical condition to St. Barnabas Hospital.

The suspect didn't attempt to flee after crashing into the tree, police said. He was taken into custody at the scene and isn't believed to have suffered any serious injuries.

It wasn't immediately clear what happened to the Honda driver who was carjacked.
