NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — A Brooklyn man has been indicted for a 100 mph Tesla crash that killed his passenger and injured three others, the borough's district attorney's office said Wednesday.

Jonathan Mikhaylov, 23, was driving at an extremely high rate of speed in a Tesla northbound on National Drive late on June 10, 2021, when he missed a 90-degree turn onto Strickland Avenue, crashed through a metal fence and hit two dumpsters, prosecutors allege.

The Tesla, which was carrying four passengers, went airborne for around 40 feet and rotated mid-air before hitting a retaining wall on the rear passenger side.

Prosecutors said the car ultimately came to rest in the driveway of a senior living facility.

Jack Levy, 18, who was in the back seat, was transported to Brookdale Hospital with severe head trauma and was pronounced dead the next day.

Another 18-year-old passenger sustained multiple fractures, a laceration to his liver, bruising to his lung and a pneumothorax. A third passenger, 22, suffered a fractured skull. The fourth passenger, 24, and Mikhaylov had minor injuries.

According to court documents, Mikhaylov was allegedly driving at 100 mph less than three seconds before the crash. The collision was captured on video surveillance from the senior living community.

"This defendant’s alleged reckless driving caused the death of a young man whose entire life was ahead of him, and left others injured," Brooklyn District Attorney Eric Gonzalez said in a statement.

Mikhaylov was charged with second-degree manslaughter, criminally negligent homicide, second-degree assault, second-degree reckless endangerment, reckless driving and speeding during his arraignment on Wednesday. Bail was set at $5,000 cash or $25,000 bond.

He is due back in court in January and faces up to 15 years in prison if convicted of the top count.
