NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — A 45-year-old Bronx man was sentenced to 15 years in prison for shooting two victims with an illegal gun, the Department of Justice announced on Thursday.
On Aug. 2, 2020, Batise Boyce shot a victim in the head with an illegal semiautomatic handgun.
The next night, he shot a man in the face and then again the back as his victim attempted to walk away.
Both men survived, though the latter needed a leg amputation as a result of the attack.
On Sept. 8, Boyce pleaded guilty to comparatively light charges of firearm possession as a convicted felon and firearm possession in a school zone.
He had previously been convicted of six felonies, including robbery, assault with a firearm and a knife attack.
“Today’s sentence demonstrates the importance and success of the Triggerlock program in bringing together state, local, and federal law enforcement to ensure that repeat firearm offenders receive appropriate sentences for their crimes,” said U.S. Attorney Damian Williams. “I greatly appreciate our law enforcement partners as they work with us to ensure that deadly firearms and violent offenders stay off the streets of our communities.”
