NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- The death of an 18-year-old man found covered in burns at his home in Brooklyn this week has been ruled a homicide, police said Wednesday.
Josiah Green was pronounced dead at the apartment where he lived on Wyona Street, near Pitkin Avenue, in East New York after police responded to a 911 call there around 6:45 a.m. Sunday.
Officers arrived to find Green unconscious and unresponsive in a first-floor apartment with burns across his body, according to police.
Police sources told the New York Post that the teen had special needs and that his father told cops he’d fallen into scalding bathwater.
The dad said he waited two days to contact police because he was afraid, according to the sources, who said his parents tried to treat them on their own.
The cause of death, according to the medical examiner, was said to be, “Thermal injuries to approximately 90% of body surface area in a person with cerebral palsy due to extreme premature birth.”
No arrests have been reported as an NYPD investigation continues.
