NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — Police released a sketch Wednesday morning of the alleged subway mugger who punched a homeless man, causing his death, during a robbery over the summer.

The victim, Homero Urgilez, 52, died on Oct. 1 at New York-Presbyterian Hospital in Lower Manhattan.
He was transported to the hospital on June 20, after he was discovered with severe head trauma on a downtown E train at the Chambers Street station.
Authorities on Tuesday said an investigation into how Urgilez was injured revealed that he had been confronted on the train by an unknown man at the Canal Street station.
The suspect had grabbed the victim’s bag and tried to flee, police said. Urgilez struggled to get the bag back and the crook punched him in the face.
Police said Urgilez fell to the ground and hit his head on the floor of the subway car as the thief made off with the bag.
A witness to the crime called 911 and police officers responded at the Chambers Street station, authorities said.
The Medical Examiner’s office ruled the death a homicide on Tuesday.
Authorities are asking for the public’s help in locating the suspect in the sketch released Wednesday morning.
