Jermaine Capers, 37, died Monday—more than three weeks after he collided with an 18-year-old woman walking at W. 116th Street and Adam Clayton Powell Jr. Boulevard in Harlem, police said Tuesday.

Capers, of East Harlem, was riding a dirt bike on Adam Clayton Powell Jr. Boulevard around 4:45 p.m. on July 17 when he struck the woman as she crossed the boulevard in a crosswalk at W. 116th Street.

Police said the woman was walking against the pedestrian signal and Capers was running a red light when they collided in the intersection.

The woman was knocked to the ground and suffered minor injuries.

Capers was ejected from the dirt bike and was found lying on the roadway with head trauma.

He was taken to Mount Sinai Morningside, where he ultimately succumbed to his injuries.

The NYPD said an investigation into the crash is ongoing.

Dirt bikes and ATVs are illegal to ride on New York City streets, and the NYPD has been seizing them by the hundreds this summer.
