VIDEO: Duo assaults BX Family Dollar store employee who confronted them for stealing

NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — A pair of thieves assaulted a store employee who confronted them about stealing merchandise from a Bronx discount store, police said.

The incident happened on Aug. 14 around 4:30 p.m. at the Family Dollar store at 1227 Webster Avenue in Concourse Village, authorities said.

A woman and man entered the store and tried to leave with items they did not pay for. A 23-year-old employee confronted the duo at which point they began to assault, cops said.

The woman put the employee in a chokehold before fleeing the store with the stolen goods. The employee was treated at the scene for minor injuries, officials said.

The woman is described as being about 5'6" tall, 220 pounds, with a dark complexion, heavy build, long black hair in braids, last seen wearing a white t-shirt, black pants, and black Adidas sandals.

Her male companion is described as being 5'4" tall, with a slim build, medium complexion, bald head, gray facial hair, last seen wearing a black baseball hat with a blue rim, a black t-shirt with a white Adidas logo on the front, black pants with white stripes on the legs and white sneakers.
