NEW YORK (1010 WINS/WCBS 880) -- An on-duty NYPD traffic agent was spat at, pelted with trash and thrown through a door in Manhattan over the weekend, police said Monday as they search for two suspects.
The NYPD released a surveillance image Monday of the wanted pair.
The traffic agent was working at 297 East 3rd St. in the East Village around 8:15 a.m. Saturday when he was attacked.
It’s unclear what led to the confrontation, but one of the suspects spat at the traffic agent, police said.
The attacker then threw garbage at the agent and shoved him through a closed door, according to police.
As all this was going on, the second suspect brandished a knife and menaced the agent with it, police said.
The suspects were last seen fleeing east on 3rd Street toward Avenue C.
The agent didn’t suffer any serious injuries, police said.
Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS.
