NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — A man riding an e-bike was killed after he slammed into a pole on the Upper East Side early Monday.

The victim was headed south in the bike lane on 2nd Avenue near East 89th St. around 12:40 a.m. when he lost control and struck a pole on the sidewalk, according to police.

He suffered severe head trauma and was transported by EMS to NewYork-Presbyterian/Weill Cornell Medical Center, where he was pronounced deceased.

The NYPD Highway District's Collision Investigation Squad is investigating.

His identity has not been released at this time.
