NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — Eric Adams’ younger brother Bernard Adams, 57, is stepping down from his role as security advisor to the mayor.
Bernard, a retired NYPD sergeant, was initially tapped to be deputy police commissioner for governmental affairs, but scrutiny from the Conflicts of Interest Board led to a lesser advisory role.
Even in the advisory position, he was slated to be paid more than $210,000 annually, but the board ordered he instead be paid $1 in response to nepotism backlash.
The younger Adams still makes more than $50,000 annually from his NYPD pension.
His last day will be sometime next week. In the PIX11 interview in which he announced his departure, he said he plans on spending more time with his family.
