NEW YORK (1010 WINS/WCBS 880) -- A father was stabbed to death, and a man and a woman slashed, outside a Brooklyn bodega on Tuesday night, reportedly during an altercation over a man taking photos of a woman.

The deadly altercation unfolded outside a bodega at 340 Roebling St. in Williamsburg around 8:30 p.m.

NYPD officers responding to a 911 call found a 36-year-old man with a stab wound to his neck, a 45-year-old man with slash wounds to his neck and back, and a 27-year-old woman with a slash wound to her wrist.

The 36-year-old victim, identified as Severiano Reyes, was pronounced dead at NYC Health + Hospitals/Bellevue.

The other two victims—said to be Reyes' male friend and female cousin—were taken in stable condition to New York-Presbyterian Brooklyn Methodist Hospital.

While details about the killing are still being worked out, Reyes' family told WCBS-TV that the father of four was standing up for his female cousin when he was killed.

According to the family, the three victims were at the bodega when an unknown man started taking photos of her and Reyes confronted him.

When they were outside the bodega, the mystery man attacked all three of them and then ran off into the night, the family said.

"Him and the other friend from the neighborhood were trying to stand up for her, basically saying, 'Why are you taking pictures? Stop taking pictures.' And the guy just attacked them," Phil Proszowski told WCBS-TV.

No arrests had been reported Wednesday as the investigation continued.

Police described the suspect as a man wearing a blue tie-dye shirt with black shorts.

Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS.
