NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — An off-duty FDNY EMT allegedly headbutted an NYPD cop after he was arrested for a drunken crash on Staten Island early Tuesday.

The New York Daily News reports that officers responded to a fender bender crash at Dewey Avenue and Giffords Lane in Great Kills and saw FDNY EMT Nicholas McGowan standing outside his car about 1 a.m.
The 27-year-old, who told officers he was returning home from work when he got into the crash, appeared unsteady, had bloodshot eyes and reeked of alcohol.
McGowan refused to take a breathalyzer test and was arrested, police said. He then allegedly headbutted a police officer once he was taken to Staten Island central booking.
The injured officer was taken to Staten Island University Hospital North with a minor injury.
McGowan is charged with assault on a police officer, driving with a blood alcohol content of .08%, driving while ability is impaired by alcohol and refusing to take a breath test, according to police.
He’s facing suspension once he’s arraigned on the charges, an FDNY spokesman told the Daily News.
A source told the outlet that McGowan has allegedly attacked a police officer before, punching a cop at the Staten Island St. Patrick’s Day parade in 2015.
