NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — A firefighter is recovering at a local hospital after responding to a four-alarm fire at a Bronx supermarket Tuesday evening, officials said.

Fire officials said the blaze broke out just before 5:15 p.m. in the basement and first floor of a supermarket at 1869 Archer Street in the Bronx.

Thirty-nine units of firefighters and EMS members were reported to the scene.

The FDNY said one firefighter was taken to Jacobi Medical Center with serious, non-life-threatening injuries.

At this time, exterior operations are being conducted at the scene.
