NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — David Bonola, the man arrested in the killing of 51-year-old Orsolya Gaal who he was allegedly having an affair with, was indicted Tuesday, Queens District Attorney Melinda Katz announced Tuesday.

The 44-year-old Richmond Hill man faces multiple charges including murder, burglary and concealment of a human corpse and could be sentenced to a maximum of 25 years-to-life in prison if convicted.

Just after midnight on April 16, Gaal had just gotten home from a night out when Bonola came to her door, authorities said.

Bonola entered Gaal’s house and the two got into a verbal dispute which escalated into Bonola allegedly slashing Gaal’s throat and stabbing her more than 50 times, police said.

After killing Gaal, Bonola took a hockey duffel bag that belonged to her son and stuffed her body inside. He was then captured on surveillance video from a nearby home allegedly dragging the body through the neighborhood to dispose of it, officials said.

Around 8 a.m. the same day, the duffel bag was found near Forest Park at Metropolitan Avenue
and Union Turnpike with the remains of Gaal inside.

Police were able to follow the trail of blood from the crime scene to the married mother of two’s home.

A knife, believed to be the murder weapon, was later recovered which was hidden in Gaal’s home, as well as Bonola’s jacket which was found inside Forest Park, the D.A. said.

“This heinous murder left two teenagers without a mother and terrified an entire community. As alleged, this defendant brutally stabbed the victim over 50 times before stuffing her body into a duffel bag – which he then dragged for several blocks in an attempt to dispose of the victim’s remains,” Katz said. “The defendant has now been indicted and arraigned on very serious charges and faces a lengthy prison sentence if convicted.”

Days after Gaal’s body was found, Bonola offered to speak with police, allegedly confessing to stabbing Gaal and moving her body. He also said that some time on Saturday he went to a New York City hospital for a cut on his hand and he and Gaal argued.

Bonola’s next court appearance is scheduled for July 7.
