NEW YORK (1010 WINS) – A JetBlue airliner headed to Puerto Rico bumped into a parked plane at JFK Airport in Queens on Wednesday—less than a week after a close call between two Delta and American flights at the airport.

The parked plane was empty when the San Juan–bound JetBlue flight bumped into it at the gate, both the airline and airport confirmed.

The airliner returned to the gate following the incident and the passengers were put on a different aircraft, officials said.

No injuries were reported.

In a statement, officials said 1603 “came into light contact with a parked unoccupied aircraft during pushback.”

“Safety is JetBlue’s first priority,” the Queens-based airline said, “and both aircraft involved will be taken out of service for inspection and the incident will be investigated.”

The incident came just days after an American Airlines plane taxied in front of a Delta Air Lines plane that was taking off at JFK Airport on Friday night.

The Delta plane, which was headed for the Dominican Republic, quickly aborted takeoff to avoid colliding with the American plane on the runway, according to the FAA.

No injuries were reported in the near miss. An investigation into it is underway.
